Our exclusive leadership programmes and pathways have all been designed to maximise the professional development of aspiring and existing leaders, so that they can incorporate new and innovative practices in their own institutions. We remain committed to exploring fresh approaches and unique methodologies, through sharing and collaboration, so that our training reflects the evolutions in educational leadership and uses the most cutting-edge technologies.
One of the ways in which we utilise the best resources for our leadership pathways is the integration of innovative techniques such as DiSC training. For the past two years we have run a highly successful DiSC training module as part of our Senior Leader’s programme, Embedding Accountability Through Distributive Leadership. David Fitzgerald, Vice President – Cluster Lead, was asked to co-facilitate this year’s session; as a qualified DiSC trainer he has proven himself adept at helping our Senior Leaders understand how to work with team dynamics to successfully model distributive leadership. The workshop itself generated extremely positive outcomes for the participants, including:
An understanding of the DiSC behaviour model and how to identify your personal communication style, as well as those of others
An ability to use the DiSC model to support ‘distributed leadership’ and ‘team accountability’
An opportunity to define and rationalise the term ‘accountability’ and what it looks like in an educational setting
To consider why and how we hold people to account and the challenges that result from doing so

What does DiSC stand for?
Originally created by Dr William Marston, DiSC is built around four unique behavioural styles and how the unique qualities of each of those impact the way we approach people, tasks and the entirety of our daily lives. The letters stand for Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Conscientiousness. Within this framework lies the opportunity for individuals to determine their strengths and weaknesses, identify their personal style and establish a roadmap for more effective leadership within their organisation.
